about

from "See Shell
The Terror on Atwin Mountain"
Lexington Trumpet-Gazette, vol. XXXIV, issue 126, p. 1, 3-7
Richard Habit

"...it is noted that “Shelley, 26, obtained her B.S. in Communication at Boston College and MCP just last year at MIT. As a representative of the Whitewood City Council, Shelley promises a continued development and implementation of programs strengthening the economic interests of citizens and workers in Whitewood Bay as well as the creation of fair-equity industry between them and outside interests.”

What is not found in any publication beyond the shadow of Atwin Mountain are Shelley's results upon implementation by the author herself. Among the slew of maritime offenses committed within U.S. territorial waters at fever pitch these included murder, manslaughter, unlawful disposal of human remains, desecration of human remains, arson, unlawful destruction of federal property, unlawful destruction of a federally-administrated lighthouse, kidnapping, kidnapping of a minor, grand theft auto, and so on and so forth...." (p.1)

"...the quickly-buried discovery of a hot biological agent as yet to be identified to the public by either the United States Military or Center for Disease Control and the task of reconstructing the month-long grip of terror in Whitewood proper after the first symptomatic incidence.

In the space of that month, Atwin Mountain became a spot of much-increased military activity, with information from the interior Bay painfully restricted. At its finish Whitewood had for all intents and purposes disappeared as thoroughly as North Atwin did in late 1939. Where the latter survived in local memory through rip-snorting local lore submitting a U-Boat shellacking at the now-defunct Ecola Point lighthouse as cause for its demolition, the former has in the few weeks time since simply slipped into obsolescence without a trace from tradition and local history...."
